Surgery and magnification

Medical examinations and procedures require the use of superior optics and tools to facilitate freedom of movement, good posture and correct ergonomics throughout your working day. Optometrists design and manufacture ExamVision surgical loupes and medical loupes, which are made to measure in Denmark and fitted by optical professionals. Medical professionals across the globe enjoy the benefits of our high-end, magnifying loupes.

Choosing the right surgical loupe and magnification will optimise your performance in surgical and other medical procedures. All surgical magnifying glasses from ExamVision are designed by optometrists and customised to the individual surgeon, other medical professional or medical student. Each surgical loupe solution is based on individual eyesight, need for magnification as well as physical working environment such as distance and tools and facilities available.

Profession, magnification and ergonomics are mutually dependent
One of the main benefits of working with surgical loupes is an immediate improvement in posture. Modern operating techniques require precision and the eyes are the primary instruments that deliver information to the brain. Without surgeons loupes, users tend to work in crouched, uncomfortable positions that will lead to chronic lower back and neck pain.

Surgical magnifying glasses and medical loupes will help you achieve a better posture. Adding surgical loupes to your work routine will allow you to perform professionally without compromising on your own body and working environment.

Part of our service, when you order a surgical loupe solution with us, is an examination of your ergonomic work environment. Prolonged periods of working in static postures will cause significant pains and injuries. Therefore, our team of experts will also give you and your colleagues advice and guidance on how to change your working positions on a regular basis and provide you with stretching exercises. Not only will this focus on work-life ergonomics help you achieve better treatment results, faster procedures, happy well-treated patients. It will also ensure a safe and sound working environment and improve your work satisfaction. You will feel the difference in the short as well as in the long term.

You will, of course, be guided by our team of optometrists and highly trained specialists in order to select the perfect surgical loupe solution tailored exactly to you whether it be for a range of medical procedures and examinations or for a more specific surgical use. They will listen to your most pressing needs, ask relevant questions and offer you an ideal solution, making sure that your loupes are uniquely fitted to you, have the optimal magnification and that they facilitate a superior ergonomic position all day. Magnification and surgical loupes in the medical sector
A crucial prerequisite for performing precision in surgical procedures is vision. Of course, eyesight and age are important elements in this – but having the right optical surgical loupe solution, using prescription in both carrier lenses and loupe oculars is vital in order to have a clear vision. The right magnification and an excellent field of view elevates your performance to the highest level and will help you perform better in all medical examinations and surgical proceduresTherefore, we will always examine your vision and physical working environment before designing your surgical loupes to fit your unique needs.

All in all, we offer a range of 14 magnifications within five loupe systems. In general, we recommend the following magnifications for loupes within medical and surgical field:

With lower surgical loupe magnifications from 2.3x to 3.3x magnification you will get surgical loupes ideal for medical applications and standard surgical procedures that require a large field of view and excellent depth of field. Medical students rarely need magnifications above 3.3x. This is partly due to the fact, that most of these are under the age of 40.

For more advanced, detailed, and complicated surgical procedures performing micro-surgery, you will generally need a surgical loupe with a magnification from 3.5x and up to 6.4x. Surgery procedures on hands, eyes, vascular, neuro etc. require excellent vision and magnification from 3.5x up to near-microscope magnification like 6.4x.

Age, vision and surgery loupes
People under 40 years of age very often have good eyesight, where the eye effortlessly shifts focus from distant to near. If the eyesight isn’t flawless, lenses in both the frame and the medical and surgical loupes can be customised with the right prescription to compensate. Even if you have perfect eyesight, the right customised medical loupes will be a great benefit for your work and can enhance your visual accuracy and ability to see minute details.

From the age of about 40, your eyes gradually lose their ability to accommodate and focus up close. This makes custom made surgical magnifying loupes an even better investment. Your ExamVision surgical loupes can be altered again and again to compensate for eventual changes in your eyesight over the years. We know how important impeccable vision is to extraordinary craftsmanship!
