ExamVision offers a wide range of 15 magnifications available in 5 loupe systems:
- Our Essential and HD ranges are built on the Galilean lens system, known for their lightweight design and ease of use.
- The Kepler Reflekt, Kepler Kompakt, and Kepler Advanced systems are based on the Prismatic lens system, offering higher magnification and advanced optical precision.
When choosing the right magnification for your dental or surgical loupes, it’s important to take into account both your working conditions and personal preferences — including posture, procedure type, and how many hours a day you’ll be using magnification.
If you're new to loupes or wear them for extended periods, we typically recommend starting with 2.3x to 3.0x magnification. These levels offer an ideal depth of field, allowing you to move naturally while keeping your subject in focus, as well as a wide field of view that helps maintain relaxed posture and visual comfort throughout the day.
Higher magnifications are best suited to specialist work, usually performed for shorter durations. Many professionals choose a 2.8x loupe for everyday work, and pair it with a higher magnification loupe such as 3.3x, 3.5x, 3.8x, 4.0x, 4.6x, 5.0x, 5.7x, 6.0x, or even 7.0x for more intricate tasks.
It’s crucial not to choose a magnification higher than you actually need, as this can negatively impact your ergonomics and comfort.
Ideally, advanced users have both a Galilean loupe for general use and a Kepler Advanced loupe, which offers four interchangeable magnifications, allowing them to adapt easily to different procedures throughout the day.
